Easter!

Okay, so Chinese New Year means only one thing to me now, the count down to Easter. I LOVE Easter! I think it's the whole deal with spring weather and hot cross buns. I LOVE those and end up buying dozens as soon as Lent comes around. They have to be the kind with custard though, that fakey lemon gel stuff is really gross. The bad thing is that I end up gaining more weight during that time than the holidays and I find myself wishing I had the best weight loss pills, and tons of them. LOL! This year I need to take it easy on those and freeze a bunch so I can have them later instead of now. I just can't pass up bread especially when there's sweet stuff too!

Sad News

It's really sad, a couple weekends ago my parents had to attend two services for friends that passed away in the same week. The creepy thing is that they were in the same circle of friends so everyone had to go to both whether it was your loss or some one else's. Even worse is now they just found out that another one may go soon because he's been diagnosed with Mesothelioma. It's really sad that they're all at the age when things start going wrong. I grew up with all these people and soon there will only be a few left. It makes me wonder if anything will happen to my parents soon too.

Peptides

I just read this interesting tidbit about peptides. I've never even looked into the ingredients of the creams and things I use...I know, really smart. LOL! Peptides aid the growth of skin cells which is what wrinkle creams and things do but there's one called argireline that works better than the rest because it grows the right cells. I'm not a scientist or anything but I figured there might be something with all the different things out there. Anyway, it's worth looking into what goes onto your face so you're getting the right treatment for what you want. I'll be doing that for sure from now on.

Dual Purpose

One thing I wish that companies would make is anti aging products that also address acne. Is it that all older people don't break out ever or what? I kind of wonder if the active ingredients may cancel each other out too. In any event I really wish that some one would make something so that I don't feel like I'm going to end up looking like a prune without buying a ton of different things. I already have such an arsenal of stuff in the cabinets that I always forget which ones I use when. Does it help? Who knows, only time will tell I guess.

Toy Story 3!

I JUST saw the trailer for the new Toy Story movie and it looks fantastic! I've been waiting for this one to come out. I love Pixar! They are probably one of the last production companies that truly has an original imagination any more. So Toy Story 3 comes out on June 18th and I'm going to have to get dd to sit through the first two so we can go see this one in the theater. Even if she doesn't understand any of it at least she'll recognize them and not freak out from boredom while we sit there. That's the plan any way. I highly recommend everyone see the trailer for Toy Story 3!

Cherrio Cherrios

I swore I heard a while back that all those cereals that claim to reduce cholesterol were getting in trouble because there was no scientific proof but I guess not since they all still advertise it. Either way I don't really care for those kind because they really don't fill you up for the morning. I find eating something more substantial and less "air filled" really does the trick. Even yogurt and a banana is a better option I think. I was always better through my work days when I started the day off with something like that rather than a bowl of cereal. My mom swears by her daily bowl of granola cereal but that's so loaded with sugar that it doesn't appeal to me. Trying to be healthier really isn't working out for her I don't think. LOL

Insomnia

I don't know what my problem is but no matter how tired I am I won't let myself go to sleep until after a certain time period. That's usually not until after 4am and it's getting old...really fast. I'm tired all the time and don't have energy to do anything that I need to do so it just sits there. Then when 11pm rolls around I'm ready to pass out and the cycle will continue. I just don't get it and it drives me crazy. I've always laughed at my friends that use all those anti aging creams but now I'm starting to wonder which of those eye cream for dark circles actually works quickly so I don't look like the walking dead anymore. Being me is so not fun sometimes.

Tax Time!

I'm done, are you? LOL! I love tax time, well I hate doing them but mine are relatively simple and I normally get something back so it's almost like getting paid to work the whole year. This year I'm getting enough back that I can start working on my business and I'm SUPER excited to start doing something I actually like to do. Everything I've done since I've been at home has been okay but nothing I really like to do so it always seems like a chore. I cannot wait to finally get something off the ground!

Raging Hormones

I think between DS and myself we've tried just about every acne lotion or cream there is. Since our breakouts are totally hormone based it really stinks because there really isn't anything that helps. We use our topicals religiously but it only relieves a bit of the pain for a short period of time. It takes forever for them to go down and by the time they do we're breaking out again. It's more than frustrating but for some reason I've been scared to take any kind of pill for it. I had a friend on Accutane once and I just about died when I saw her going through the side effects. I guess we'll just keep using what we've got until we can figure out something else.

Working Retail

I think it's interesting that I've never really been a people person yet I've always found myself in some form of customer service. Who would have thought right? LOL I actually found that I really like doing what I do. Being able to know that I've put a smile on someone's face for the day seemed to have brightened mine. Of course we would get the occasional wonky customer who was totally out of this world but all in all it was fun.

The one thing that did drive me nuts was the POS systems that I've used. I've used everything from a normal desktop computer, a small POS system and a large scale system covering the whole country. Each had its flaws but I think the worst was the large system. It seemed "they" just couldn't get it together and we ended up stuck all the time. The worst was when the power went out or the screen would freeze and we had to do everything by hand. I'm not sure where they got this system but they totally should have gotten something different and more user friendly.

Profiteroles!

I've never wanted to make any kind of cream puffs or eclairs because I always thought that it was a time consuming and laborious project for some reason. Boy was I wrong, they couldn't be easier! I've had really bad insomnia lately and was up watching Anne Burell's show and she showed how to make them. The next day I HAD to try and it was awesome. The only drawback is that you have to eat them all the same day because no matter how you store them they get super soggy, so I would definitely recommend only making one batch (I made two). Pate choux really wasn't bad to make at all and if you're thinking about making them you totally should!

Double Duty

My DD's proving to be the biggest challenge ever and I'm being pulled in a bunch of different ways all the time. Right now we are working on potty training, bringing her speech up to speed and if I can throw in some word recognition that would be awesome but I'm not counting to highly on that. LOL I've started organizing and labeling things so she can see the words and hopefully they will be easier to recognize later on. I point out signs to her every where we go since she started noticing stop signs and now we're working on exit signs and what exit means. I'm not sure she gets it yet but she has a pretty good memory so I just pray it'll stick.

Too Much Furniture!

Our house is super cramped and walking around can become the most irritating part of the day. You end up weaving and moving things out of the way all the time. It always looks really cluttered because we have way too much furniture. It seems that there's a tendency to always cover each wall with furniture as if the wall shouldn't be showing at all. On top of that the stuff we have is too big for the scale of the rooms. The frustrating part is that most of it belongs to my mom and she won't do anything but complain how the house isn't how she wants it, she won't part with anything. After the 10 years or so that we've lived in this house she still forces up to sit in rooms that aren't comfortable thinking that that's the way it "should" be not how things actually are. Then she'll get mad when things get worn or ruined. Go figure. I would LOVE to get a TV show in here to makeover the house and help us get furniture that looks great and functions for us. I love the rooms I've seen done with contemporary sofas and modern accents. You'd laugh if you saw what we have now, it's TOTALLY opposite...and a little scary. LOL

New Paint

This winter seems SO long! I've been wanting to paint our bedroom and think I finally picked out a color but the longer I have to wait, the more times it seems that I change my mind. Normally I wouldn't care if it were cold or not I would do it anyway but since we share the room with DD I have to wait or we'll either die from the fumes or freeze to death. LOL I totally can't wait to paint and freshen things up though. It's amazing what such a small change can make in how you feel and I'm more than ready to start feeling better. ^_^
