How My Family Stays Safe During Winter

Contributed by Milford Woods

Winter is one of my more preferred seasons, and that's simply because of how beautiful the snow can be and how cozy our fireplace is. Even though winter has its “feel-good” qualities, it's probably the most dangerous season out of the four due to how cold the temperature can get outside. Because of these drastic temperatures, my family and I take all sorts of precautions to keep things as safe as possible.

Of course, around winter time, we always make it a point to break out our winter clothes. We usually wear heavy coats, multiple layers of socks, heavy duty shoes, and warm headwear. With all of the right clothing, it's easy to stay warm during the winter. My kids are also learning how to dress properly during the winter time.

We also like to take extra precaution and stock up on essential items like water and food in case of a real emergency. Ice storms and blizzards are very common, and it won't be good if our entire family is cooped up inside the house without any supplies. We also make sure we set our home alarm (prices ADT Ada) before leaving the house for any reason in case we cannot make it back home for whatever reason.

Even though, winter is a dangerous season, I still like to make the most out of it. It's a beautiful season, and it's almost foolish to take it for granted.
